RCD Testing
Protective devices, known as Residual Current detector (or Ground-fault Interrupter) Circuit Breakers, are widely accepted for use at homes, hotels ,factories, workshops or mines. Such devices incorporate a sensitive detector to detect any leakage currents from faulty appliance ( or its connecting cords and persons touching the appliances) to earth, and operate a quick-acting circuit- breaker which will disconnect the power supply to the faulty circuit.
The GPO sub-circuits may be provided with earth-leakage protection. With this system, even a very small value of fault current in the earthing conductor will automatically open the main current breaker at the distribution board.
